Case Study
Context
A procurement platform built from scratch for hundreds of internal users at a Fortune 500 company. I led the first seven months full-time as sole engineer — owning design, frontend, and key backend features in Vue and Spring — and validated the approach through user tests and in-depth expert interviews, which later became the foundation of my first peer-reviewed PhD paper. The team then grew to five, and the platform has since scaled to an internal group of 15. It replaces processes scattered across email and spreadsheets, unifying them in one workspace organized as three connected areas: an information space that automatically gathers, aggregates, and summarizes the news, announcements, and supplier information a buyer needs, acting as a single source of truth; an analytics-and-automation space for supplier discovery, request-for-quote and auction workflows, supplier ratings and forecasting, plus bots that take over low-risk, repetitive tasks; and a sustainable-sourcing space that scores the carbon and risk impact of suppliers and products so environmental cost is visible the moment a sourcing decision is made. In the evaluation, experts singled out clear gains in transparency, efficiency, and decision-making, and the platform is in active production use.
